Ruwangie is one of the most talented and vibrant members of the choir and has achieved great heights for her twenty-four years. Yet it is her love for music that makes her such a special part of Soul Sounds. According to Ruwangi “I was born and then I started singing”.
She started singing with a professional choir at the age of twelve, though her solo career began earlier. She has completed Grade 1 to 8 in the examinations conducted by the Royal College of Music in piano as well as singing. She is currently training for her ATCL Diploma in singing.
Ruwangi’s talents and capabilities don’t lie in the field of music alone. She is an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and also has a Diploma in Human Resource Management from IPM. Presently she is the Assistant Manager of the Project and Planning Department at the HSBC Data Processing Unit in Colombo.
A founder member of Soul Sounds and one of its lead soloists, Ruwangi was a member of the choirs that performed in Wales, India and China. She was also the leader of the choir during the past season.
Dedicated, hardworking and always ready for a laugh ‘Rugi’ as she is called, is capable of keeping all of us in fits of laughter with her humour. She is much loved by all the choristers and is treasured as one of its most valuable members.
